Dear Readers,
It is with great sadness that I share that Ophthalmic Professional has produced its last issue. As I write this letter, I find myself thinking of the changes in eye care since our first issue in September, 2012. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve first as Co-Editor in Chief with Bruce Maller, then as Co-Editor in Chief with Judy Williams, and most recently as Editor in Chief.
Every issue has been crafted with the hope of informing and supporting the work you do every day. With help from the editorial board, publication staff, and contributors, we have profiled many practices that differentiate from others in hopes that you will implement some of what makes them great with your patients. We have updated you on new therapies and kept you abreast of coding changes, what to know when it comes to compliance, and customer service do’s and don’ts.
Whether you are an ophthalmic assistant, technician, optician, or student, your dedication to learning and to excellence has helped elevate our profession. Staff members of every ophthalmology practice are dedicated to caring for our patients with the professionalism and compassion we hope to receive from our own doctors.
Change is a constant in health care, especially in the past 5 years. No doubt there are more changes to come. Although OP is ending its run, we invite you to find relevant information at Ophthalmology Management, where I will be serving as a member of the editorial board. While you’re there, be sure to visit our Ophthalmic Staff tab, where we will continue to share the information that has made OP special.
Thank you for your loyal readership, suggestions, and online participation. Keep up the great work you do.
With warm regards,
Jane T. Shuman
